It was quite a day for the Wappingers boys rowing program and the Poughkeepsie High School tandem of Julia Rigothi and Kara Prichard on Sunday.
Rigothi and Prichard won a third career New York State Scholastic Rowing Association Championship, and the Wappingers boys varsity four boat became the first in the history of the boys program to qualify for the Scholastic Rowing Association Nationals.
Rigothi and Prichard won the girls high school varsity doubles state crown, completing the 1,500-meter course on Fish Creek at Saratoga Springs in 6 minutes, 42.5 seconds. The duo, which captured the 2012 state junior doubles title and rowed as freshmen on the state-champion freshman four boat, won the high school varsity doubles race by 36 seconds.
